Reducing Impact, Improving Efficiency
Denver's unique climate makes sustainability especially important for us. With very little average rainfall each year, 节约用水至关重要, 和 our warm summers 和 snowy winters incur a host of energy costs. 与不断变化的技术同步, we've been working hard to eliminate as much waste in water 和 energy use as possible, reducing our impact on the environment while bolstering our ability to exemplify change on an institutional level.
穿过校园, we've initiated water savings 和 energy reduction 项目 targeting the largest areas of consumption, 比如灌溉, 加热和冷却, thereby challenging prior st和ards of waste 和 cutting down on emissions across the board.
节能策略
Converting to LED lighting in academic buildings, residences 和 parking structures
Switching to renewable energy sources on campus 和 through Colorado utilities
Reducing 加热和冷却 dem和s through smarter occupancy settings
Teaching our community to conserve on campus 和 at home
18 buildings equipped with solar panels
1000万年 kWh annual energy savings through reductions 和 design innovation
38% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions since 2006
只有我们需要的水
高效的灌溉
在过去的十年里, we've dramatically rethought how we use water on campus, leading to a 40 percent drop in exterior water usage.
更好的设备
在整个校园的建筑里, we've installed more efficient water fixtures, including low-flow or dual-flow toilets 和 energy-saving showers in residences.
聪明的种植
Grounds crews are increasing areas planted with wildflowers, 用节水技术栽培的花园, 还有耐旱植物, which is helping us think about what plants are appropriate for Denver's climate.
